GameBuro account policy
Version 2026-08-22.5
1. Account data
GameBuro stores the unique nickname, email address, password hash, email-verification status, stable public ID, account language preference, policy version and acceptance time, account creation and sign-in dates, and technical data needed for sessions and security. Optional data may include a profile description and saved links to Steam, DTF, VK and Telegram profiles.
2. Public profile and privacy
Accounts have a public page addressed by a stable public ID. The profile is public by default, while the saved Steam link and online/last-activity status are hidden by default. You can change privacy options in your profile, including profile visibility, Steam-link visibility, registration-date visibility and activity visibility. DTF, VK and Telegram links are shown on a public profile when added; remove them or hide the profile if you do not want them visible. Followers are public. Friends and following lists are public by default but can be hidden. Friend requests can also be disabled.
3. Nicknames and profile history
Nicknames are unique regardless of letter case. Names that imitate GameBuro, its administration, support or moderation are reserved. A user may change their nickname no more than once every seven days. For moderation and abuse prevention, GameBuro may keep the history of previous nicknames, email addresses, public IDs and saved Steam, DTF, VK and Telegram links while the account exists.
4. Messages, subscriptions and friendships
Each account has an official administration chat. It may contain a welcome message, project news, service notices, warnings and moderation messages. The administration may send a message to one account or publish a message to accounts selected by language preference. Replies to the administration chat are disabled. New chat messages do not trigger email notifications. Users can follow other profiles. Mutual following is treated as friendship. Friend requests are shown in a separate system chat and social events may appear in the in-site notification feed.
5. Warnings, blocking and reports
The administration may issue and revoke warnings and may temporarily or permanently block an account. Moderation actions may include a reason and, for temporary blocks, an expiry date. A block notice is also sent to the account email. Signed-in users may report another public profile by selecting one or more reasons and optionally adding details. Reports and moderation history are available only to administrators.
6. Service rules
- Do not impersonate GameBuro, its administration, support, moderators or other users.
- Do not use nicknames, descriptions or other profile content for harassment, threats, spam, fraud, scams or deliberately misleading content.
- Do not abuse reports, registration, account recovery, messages or other service mechanisms.
- Attempts to bypass technical restrictions, temporary or permanent blocks may lead to further restrictions.
- GameBuro may remove inappropriate public-profile content, issue warnings or restrict an account when reasonably necessary to protect users and the service.
7. Passwords and security
Your password is never stored as plain text. GameBuro stores only a one-way cryptographic hash. Session identifiers, IP addresses, browser/device technical data, rate-limit records and account security events may be processed to prevent brute force, bots and abuse. You can review and terminate active sessions from your profile.
8. Email
Email is used for registration confirmation, access recovery, email changes and important security or moderation notices such as account blocking. Registering an account is not consent to advertising email. Project news sent through the GameBuro administration chat is not duplicated by email.
9. Deletion
You can schedule account deletion from your profile after confirming the current password. Deletion is performed after a seven-day grace period and can be cancelled during that period. Administrative deletion may be immediate when required for moderation or maintenance. Data linked to the account is removed according to the database relationships and applicable security requirements.
10. General privacy policy
This page supplements the general GameBuro privacy policy, which describes broader site data processing, cookies, analytics and third-party services. If these account rules change materially, the version shown on this page will be updated.
